the one thing I do relish in when autumn arrives, is BAKING!
I fill up the kitchen with fragrant aromas and the warmth of the oven.
ahhhh…..
baking bliss.
so be prepared for lots of baking posts this season.
I’ll be brimming with them.
I already have a list compiled in my Rolodex brain of all the recipes I want to share.
nothing says “autumn” like apple crisp!
my neighbor just brought over fresh apples right from the orchard and after the kids had their way with them, I made an easy crisp with the remainder of them.

recipe here.
start by peeling the apples.
core the apples.
and slice.
throw in a bowl…
and toss with some lemon juice.
put apples in a buttered 8″ square casserole pan or deep pie dish.
measure out dry ingredients.
cut in the stick of butter and set aside.
sprinkle apples with cornstarch…
and cinnamon-sugar.
toss to coat apples.
cover apples with topping.
place casserole in a 350F oven for 40 mins.
or until topping is crisp and brown and filling starts to bubble.
enjoy warm with your favorite autumn drink.
and pssst…….
it’s even BETTER with a scoop of ice cream or with heavy cream poured on top.

Oh, golly. I wish you were my neighbor. Then you could invite me over to your house for a cup of hot coffee and a piece of that yummy apple crispy goodness. BTW – just so you know… If we were neighbors, and you didn’t invite me to share your treats, I might just steal them right off of your window sill.
We’re going to the orchard this weekend. I am really looking forward to turning some of our apple bounty into this dessert, no breakfast treat.
