Open Shutter Showase…

If you haven’t already noticed, my Photography Shoppe is now open and I have had my first sale.

I decided I would celebrate by buying myself a Showcase. I am hoping that this will help me gain some more exposure. And of course, more sales.

It’s hard to believe this long love affair with Photography has just now culminated into something bigger than myself. All I have ever wanted is to just be able to capture little pieces of the world around me. Inside of this thing that is always with me, my camera.

It evokes a feeling within me indescribable. The world can be throwing it’s worst in my direction, and as long as I have my pictures in a bottle, I have peace.

How crazy is that?

Crazy or not, I think we all have these tranquil little respites to help us cope. And if you don’t, I hope you soon find yours. It may be hiding somewhere. But when you look hard and finally discover it, you’ll never want to let it go.

What brings you peace in an instant?

i too use my camera to cope. it calms my anxieties and gives me something else to focus on besides myself. with all the craziness with my grandmother (who is being admitted to the nursing home on july 1st) i have not had the energy or time to pick up my camera – - – i need to, to save myself.

As anyone that knows me could probably guess, mine is knitting. I love the comforting swish, swish that my bamboo needles make and the feel of the yarn gliding along. It is so satisfying turn a simple ball of yarn into something beautiful and useful.

My piano! Which may surprise those around me as I rarely go over to it (my kids see me go to it and run over to play it themselves evicting me from the piano stool). But when they are not around and I want a few minutes of decompression, I go play my favorite song (I know by heart – so there is not the frustration of learning a new piece), it brings instant relief.
